Learn how to create String Art

Before you start creating your first String Art Project, make sure you have all of the following materials ready:

Visit the Materials Section to explore our recommended supplies to get you started without a hassle.

Start by heading to the Projects tab and pressing the plus icon in the bottom right. Choose your image and set your preferences. You can choose between colored and gray String Art. Here you can set the shape of the nail pattern. For the Canvas Size, choose a slightly smaller size than your board to allow for a border. Start the generation and wait. Confirm you have enough thread at hand.

SETUP

Prepare the Board

After the generation is complete, print the Template on regular DIN A4 paper. Secure the pages onto your board using tape or glue. Hammer nails at each marked point (Also in the spaces between pages due to printer limitations), leaving about 1cm outside the board. Straighten the nails using pliers.

CREATION

Connect the Nails

Begin by tying the end of the string to the first nail. Cut of the excess with a pair of scissors. Follow the sequence provided in the app, looping the string around each nail as indicated. For color changes, secure the current string by looping it around the current nail multiple times.
